Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Guarding Stars | Leighton Meester & Jared Padalecki | Official Trailer | Netflix

Romance has company. Netflix posted fifteen videos this week, making room for snowy fake dating, a holiday do-over and a fresh crew on the streets of Night City.

The most watched new upload was "Guarding Stars | Leighton Meester & Jared Padalecki | Official Trailer | Netflix," reaching about 1.7 million views. Meester's bodyguard Hannah must protect Padalecki's movie star Jack while posing as his girlfriend at his family's Montana ranch. The trailer gives that arrangement a particularly public complication: a rodeo's Mistletoe Cam.

In the comments, viewers keep connecting the cast's earlier television worlds: Meester's Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl, Padalecki's Sam Winchester from Supernatural and his Gilmore Girls years. It's a casting crossover with plenty of shared viewing history behind it.

Holiday romance also supplies "In a Holidaze | Official Trailer | Netflix," starring Maddie Ziegler in a cabin Christmas with repeated chances to get things right. But the week's other major draw points somewhere much less cozy. "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 | Official Trailer | Netflix" introduces a standalone story with a new group of misfits, arriving October 20. Those two trailers and Guarding Stars are the channel's strongest sources of daily viewing right now.

Netflix added roughly 49 million views over the week, the largest weekly gain among the nearby entertainment channels, though its daily viewing is currently below its usual pace. Subscribers held steady. BBC and Prime Video, meanwhile, are drawing above their usual daily audiences.

Elsewhere on Netflix's shelf, Bass X Machina pairs Brian Tyree Henry and Janelle Monáe in a steampunk West populated by machines, outlaws and supernatural forces. The holiday cabins don't have the whole place to themselves.
