Small handhelds answer gaming's big price tag on NerdNest
Bill's sole new upload sends viewers comparing retro devices and joking about collecting more hardware than they play.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Gaming doesn't have to be expensive
The handheld collection has company. NerdNest's "Gaming Got Too Expensive, get these instead." drew about 20,000 views, with the comments becoming a conversation about compact retro-gaming devices and the temptation to buy just one more.
Bill's viewers have specific preferences. The Miyoo Mini Plus comes up as a home for older games, while another commenter favors the Brick Hammer's metal shell over extra power and features. Others ask about button feel, screen size and thumbsticks. Beneath the shopping discussion is a familiar collector's joke: perhaps accumulating handhelds is the hobby, and actually playing them is optional. One viewer says the upload prompted them to fire up Shinobi III.
It was NerdNest's only new upload, and it is also the channel's most active video right now. Behind it, "Steam Deck 2 - LEAKED" continues drawing viewers to a broad podcast episode covering game announcements, Valve technology and hardware rumors. "PlayStation ports will come back to Steam" offers a different question about gaming costs and access, examining Sony's PC strategy, cross-save hurdles and console exclusives.
Subscribers were unchanged over the week, while daily channel viewing is running well below its usual pace. Nearby gaming channels have had varied weeks: DF Clips and OhNoItsAlexx drew substantial weekly audiences, while PulseEffects and Displaced Gamers were quieter. For NerdNest, the freshest conversation is less about the next major console than the small device worth keeping close at hand.

This reminds me of the good old electronic games we had in the 80’s
@thenorseguySee it on YouTubeI powered my Miyoo Mini + on and flashed Onion OS to a new card (I had taken the card out years back to use with another handheld) and I powered it on and it was at 85% - and immediately worked and is flawless.
I was shocked!@lliixzllii1794See it on YouTubeThe Brick Hammer gets my vote- the extra power and features on the Konkr seem overkill for a small, dedicated, retro-focused device; losing those for a metal shell is a great trade-off. The weight, feel, and narrow focus of the hammer make it a unique object. Also, gives you the excuse to look for a higher-power, bigger screen, stick device to accompany it.
@joadams8022See it on YouTubeHow do the Konkr Pocket Brick buttons compare to the RG28XX?
@infiniterecursion9550See it on YouTubeI wish there was a 4" Miyoo handheld device.
@panthros7395See it on YouTubeWell said about thumbstick --- if only we had AYANEO-ish touchpad (like their Pocket DMG), we could have both...maybe... (Or recessed)
