  5. 10:07"Stranded" offers a large open-world mission with vehicle travel and supply scavenging.
  6. 13:26Baldino praises the roughly nine-to-eleven-hour length and the absence of sequel hooks.

gameranx gave Jake Baldino a campaign worth an unusually uncomplicated verdict: "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the campaign, is actually good. No qualifiers on that." His "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 - Before You Buy" became the most-watched of the channel's nine uploads this week, passing a million views.

The review sticks to single-player. Baldino describes a story split between Captain Price and rookie Park's American-Korean Mayhem 1 squad, with Mads Mikkelsen's Archer adding another antagonist alongside Makarov. There are parries and blocks, prompting a joke about "peak parry saturation," but the mission that gets particular attention is "Stranded": a broad landscape with vehicles to travel in and supplies to scavenge. He also welcomes a conclusion that doesn't immediately start selling the next chapter.

The comments bring a practical question to that praise: could the campaign be sold separately? Several viewers say they want the story without paying for multiplayer. Others remember the imagined Modern Warfare 4 covers and theories that circulated after the original Modern Warfare 3. For them, even the title has a history.

Elsewhere, gameranx balanced new releases with reasons to revisit the shelf. Its discounted-games roundup approached a million views, while another list considered the less enjoyable business of completing otherwise great games. The newer BioWare retrospective currently has the strongest daily momentum, followed by the Modern Warfare review and November release guide.

Across the catalog, daily viewing is now close to three times its usual level, although the subscriber count stayed unchanged over the week. Among the nearby gaming channels, IGN had the largest weekly views gain, with gameranx next. GameSpot is also enjoying elevated daily viewing; The Game Theorists is running below its usual level. For gameranx, the busy stretch encompasses both finding the next game and deciding whether its campaign alone is worth the purchase.

What viewers say

  • The fact that MW4 exists feels surreal. Anyone else remember how, after the original MW3, people were waiting for MW4, but it never came? All the fake cover art and interesting theories
