McGee says they’ll survive Director DiNozzo... famous last words 🚨 NCIS TOMORROW at 8/7c #NCIS #CBS

The elevator doors are getting almost as much attention as Tony's new title. Beneath NCIS's latest preview, viewers keep pointing to the opening elevator as the punch line to McGee's reassurance that the team will survive Director DiNozzo.

The Short reached about 62,000 views in eight hours, already more than five times the channel's usual full-day audience for that format. Its comment section has also passed the usual first-day volume several times over.

For longtime viewers, the joke comes with years of history. Sean Murray's Timothy McGee was the junior agent whom Michael Weatherly's Tony DiNozzo called "Probie." Now the prospect of Tony in charge gives that familiar office dynamic a different shape. Commenters are recalling what McGee has already endured, while one imagines finding the office walls repainted.

The channel has been giving Tony plenty of room lately. An earlier Short, "From Very Special Agent to Director Tony DiNozzo 🫡 #NCIS #NCISverse #CBS," pairs his old self-description with the director title. Another recent clip, "DiNozzo Quote-Drops 'The Goonies' While Held at Gunpoint! | NCIS | CBS," highlights his habit of reaching for movie references even in danger. A different job title hasn't removed the channel's interest in Tony being Tony.
