Dracula Has Risen From the Grave (1968) - Dracula Seduces Maria (7/10) | Movieclips
Maria opens the balcony doors, and Christopher Lee supplies the menace without saying a word. Movieclips' newly posted excerpt from Dracula Has Risen From the Grave (1968) has drawn roughly 94,000 views in nine hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for short uploads.
The scene pairs Lee's Count with Veronica Carlson's Maria. Close-ups move between his fixed stare and her entranced eyes before she reclines on the bed. An antique doll lies beside her, an innocent detail that becomes the scene's nastiest flourish: Dracula crushes it in his hand as he bites her neck.
Lee first played Dracula for Hammer in 1958. A decade later, this film was still making use of his ability to dominate a scene through stillness, with the cloak, the stare and the eventual flash of fangs doing the work.
The clips channel has posted several scenes from the film, rather than a new Dracula production. Its excerpts titled "Take Me Again, Dracula Daddy" and "Bloody Body in the Belfry" are also starting faster than usual. The Maria scene is drawing the strongest early response of those three, while Movieclips' overall daily viewing remains close to its ordinary pace.
