Chewing gum is the first offense. Thinking for yourself turns out to be the real problem at the boarding school in Josiah Fi's new edit, where a promised lesson in manners conceals a program of enforced obedience.

The Short has drawn more than a million views in about a day, roughly seventeen times the clips channel's usual first-day audience. Its title, "Scary school.#movie #foryou #edit", leaves the source unnamed, and several viewers are asking for it.

The answer is Just Beyond, the supernatural anthology series, rather than a feature film. McKenna Grace plays Veronica, a rebellious student whose arrival immediately unsettles the school's headmistress, played by Nasim Pedrad. Viewers who recognize Grace as Paige from Young Sheldon are joking about that character taking an unexpected extracurricular detour.

The edit moves from small restrictions to something much stranger. Music is forbidden. A classroom lesson about the Salem witch trials prompts Veronica to defend the accused girls as victims of oppression. Then an apparently routine "hair appointment" leads toward a light-treatment device that makes students compliant.

Music also offers Veronica a way to interrupt that conditioning. The contrast gives this particular edit its hook: the school treats a portable speaker as a greater threat than the machinery taking away its students' independence.
