Mousetales' hardware-store starling gets a name suggestion: Bean

Julie Kobylarz has a starling on her wrist and seeds within reach, but this is a hardware-store aisle, not a feeding session. The young bird chirps, looks around and briefly flutters its wings before readjusting its footing on her hand.

Then a packet of Kentucky Wonder Pole Green bean seeds enters the picture. For several Mousetales viewers, that settles the naming question: Bean. Others turn the encounter into a joke about birds distributing themselves to willing humans.

The clip has added roughly 27,000 views in a day, more than nine times its usual daily pace, three days after it was posted. Its small scene needs no spoken explanation: instrumental music and the starling's chirps provide the soundtrack.

There is a wrinkle to the on-screen introduction, which says she made a new friend at the hardware store. Kobylarz explains in the title that she actually brought the bird along to help find another baby starling loose there.

For the wildlife rehabilitator behind Mousetales, this shopping companion had a purpose beyond inspecting the seed selection.
