The queue outside SQUEAK keeps Natural Habitat Shorts busy
With no new uploads, the animal-animation channel added nearly 14 million views across its catalog.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Marmot mouth-sparring resembles a kiss but occurs during play fighting or genuine conflict
Natural Habitat Shorts left the upload queue empty, but the line outside its fictional nightclub remains lively. Connor and Brad, two cartoon marmots with something to prove, are supplying the channel's most active video right now.
The setting does much of the comic work: a neon SQUEAK sign, a necklace chain, a wristwatch and an argument about whether Brad was looking at Connor's companion's tail. Their confrontation turns into mouth-sparring that looks distinctly romantic to human eyes. Then the animation gives way to real marmots grappling, bringing the joke back to the animal behavior behind it.
That older sketch is drawing more daily views than the gibbon-howling upload we covered here last week. Gibbons remain active too, alongside the channel's Malaysian exploding-ant Short. It's a particularly Natural Habitat combination: nightclub etiquette, territorial calls and an insect's drastic colony defense.
The channel gained about 10,000 subscribers over seven days, while its current daily viewing is more than twice its usual pace. Nearby in the animal-channel neighborhood, AGuyAndAGolden also had a substantial viewing week, while Jay Prehistoric Pets was quieter. For Natural Habitat Shorts, this week's growth came entirely from videos already on the shelf.
