A chess rating question keeps Match The Addiction climbing on More Niko
Four days after a slow first day, the Beta Squad short has passed 1.7 million views, and its comments have become a seminar on how low an Elo rating can go.
Why this story? The video is running at 1,246,657 views a day, 12 times its usual pace (100,262).
Beta Squad Play Match The Addiction
Among the clips channels closest to More Niko in size, only two are drawing well above their usual daily views: More Niko and monium. DNZio Shorts, SkullTroi, Lessons in Meme Culture and MeowingJay are all running below their normal pace. Much of More Niko's lift comes from one short.
"Beta Squad Play Match The Addiction" went up on September 27 and, as we reported here, found its crowd late. It drew barely 60,000 views on its first day. Four days on, it has passed 1.7 million and is gathering views at about twelve times its own usual pace.
The game comes from Beta Squad, the London group Niko Omilana makes videos with, and More Niko is his official clips channel. In this one, the boys try to work out which person in a line-up has which habit. Going by the comments, one question settled the chess round: what is your rating? The most-liked comment says that question gave the answer away.
Viewers keep repeating the very small numbers the line-up offered. Some joke that they sit below Martin, the beginner bot on Chess.com, and others are tagging GothamChess into the thread. A smaller group argues the round was partly luck: the real chess player answered last, so the others never had a believable number to copy.
The rest of the channel kept to its usual pace. "Niko Changed His Mind 💀," posted the same day, is still in the tens of thousands.
