UnitedHealth fills five of LastWeekTonight's six busiest uploads

The main segment passed four million views in under a week, and the shorts cut from it keep finding their own crowds.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

One subject ran through nearly everything LastWeekTonight put out: UnitedHealthcare and UnitedHealth Group. The full HBO segment went up the day after the episode aired and has passed four million views in six days. It is still the fastest-moving video on the channel by a clear margin.

The shorts are where it gets interesting. The channel kept slicing the same story into smaller pieces, one on prior authorizations and another on algorithms, and each found an audience. The algorithms clip opened strongest of the short cuts and has settled since. The plain "UnitedHealthcare & UnitedHealth Group #lastweektonight" short is second on daily pace, behind only the segment it came from.

The one detour was a short on Kash Patel and FBI hiring. It sits close to a million views, a respectable total for a clip that had nothing to do with health insurance. The complete S13 E23 episode drew a smaller but steady crowd of its own.

Among the talk and late-night channels, LastWeekTonight sits fifth of nine by subscribers, just behind The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Its lifetime views are edging toward five billion, and this week added to that total one insurance company at a time.
