'chopsticks = aura' passes 205 million while kennysong rests
Nearly a year after it went up, the Toronto food creator's short is still drawing around 145,000 views a day, with a beef wellington and a bowl of bibimbap behind it.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
chopsticks = aura
"chopsticks = aura" is a short with a title that sounds like a dare, and on kennysong it has become something close to a permanent fixture. Posted almost a year ago, it has passed 205 million views and still picks up around 145,000 a day, more than the channel's two newest hits put together.
Kenny Song, who describes himself simply as the "uwansum" guy from Toronto who likes making food videos, posted nothing new this week. The kitchen did not go dark, though. Behind the chopsticks short sit two late-summer uploads moving at a similar clip to each other: "beef wellington 😮💨", about six weeks old and past 1.6 million views, and "just making bibimbap 😌", only two weeks old and already a little ahead of it in total. One is the old English showpiece wrapped in pastry, the other the Korean rice bowl built from separate toppings, and the emoji in each title tells you roughly how the cook felt about the effort.
The subscriber count held at about 3.1 million, and the lifetime total is creeping toward a billion views. Among the food channels of similar size, he sits in the middle, next to Biggroove and just under emmymade, while The Plant Slant is the one having the busy stretch, running at more than twice its usual pace.
