'Apparently I'm not white': Mr. Beat answers his own comment section

His one new upload looks at how the Great Replacement idea spreads through internet comments, a week after 'Voter fraud is a lie' passed half a million views.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Apparently I'm not whiteApparently I'm not white

Mr. Beat posted only one video this week, and its subject is the comment sections that follow him around. In "Apparently I'm not white," Matt Beat, the former social studies teacher from Kansas, takes on the strangers online who have decided he isn't white, and, as the description adds with a shrug, that he's Jewish. Is he? The video isn't really about the answer. It uses the label as a way into the Great Replacement Theory and how it shows up in internet discussion today, with tags reaching from immigration to media literacy.

It was the only fresh upload, and within about half a day it had passed 150,000 views. Many commenters play along with the joke and "claim" him for one group after another. Others take the question seriously and discuss who gets called white, and by whom.

It also continues a run. The week before brought "Voter fraud is a lie," a history of election fraud in the United States that ends on how rare it is today, and that video is now past half a million views. Further back, his August reaction to Matt Walsh's take on the Confederacy has passed 1.6 million and still draws a steady trickle. The channel is clearly leaning further into answering the politics of the day than in its early years.

The channel as a whole is running slower than usual, though it still took in close to 1.7 million views over the week. Among explainer and history channels near his size, Drew Durnil drew the most, while Fall of Civilizations and Lindybeige were quieter than normal.
