Buying the new ACOTAR book!

The Sharpie comes along. Haley Pham heads to the bookstore for Sarah J. Maas's new ACOTAR novel, but she also has a second errand: finding copies of her own Just Friends to sign.

That reader-author double life gives "Buying the new ACOTAR book!" its nicest moment. Standing at the shelves with her marker, Haley says, "I feel like I'm breaking the law when I do this." Shortly afterward, she's posing with a signed stack. "Having my book published is still the most surreal thing ever."

The Short, her sole upload this week, has passed two million views. Back home, the shopping mission becomes a shelf-aesthetics question: she lines up the six ACOTAR books and asks why the new cover wasn't purple. Viewers take up that question, debate mismatched book heights and offer practical tips for getting signed copies marked with autograph stickers. One also wonders how many published authors we unknowingly walk past in bookstores.

Across the channel, subscribers stayed unchanged, just shy of four million, while daily viewing is running below its usual pace. Among nearby vlog channels, Victoria Ortega had a larger weekly gain in views, while vlogbrothers is enjoying stronger-than-usual daily viewing.

Haley's bookstore Short is comfortably her busiest upload right now. Behind it, "Seeing my book internationally for the 1st time" continues finding viewers two months after publication: another small chapter in the experience of encountering her own name on someone else's shelves.

I wonder how many authors we walk past in Barnes and Noble and have no idea they are published somewhere in that store 🙈

Show a staff member your ID and then sign. They will put a sticker on it that says it's autographed.

Haley!!! I just remembered from your Paris video when you said how you loved to read books from the place hey are set in. I think that you should read “the summer of broken rules” and “the summer of second chances” while in Martha’s Vineyard. I did that and it made the books 1000 times better. The books literally talked about restaurants that we were able to eat at.
