Gamers Nexus takes device ownership into the DIY router
A new series starts with home networking, alongside a Wendell conversation and a glass-guided approach to GPU cooling.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Own Everything & Be Happy, Ep. 1 | DIY Router Guide
Control starts at home. Gamers Nexus opened its "Own Everything & Be Happy" series by taking the DIY PC mindset beyond the desktop and into the router.
"Own Everything & Be Happy, Ep. 1 | DIY Router Guide" has reached roughly 750,000 views. Steve Burke and the team work through software options including pfSense, OPNsense, OpenWrt and IPFire, with setup guides as well as explanations of their histories. The premise is practical but also personal: learning how the equipment works is part of the pleasure, not just a means of replacing a box supplied by an internet provider. The description sets out a broader series covering network storage, VPNs and self-hosted media.
It was the middle release of a three-upload week. The conversation with Wendell of Level1 Techs drew the largest new audience, approaching a million views. Their discussion treats SteamOS as Valve's escape route from dependence on Windows, while also questioning what buying a digital game actually means. In the comments, viewers share their own Linux setups and ask for more conversations between the pair.
The newest upload returns to the test bench. HAVN's HS 360 case adds a second glass sheet intended to direct air toward a vertically mounted graphics card. That review currently draws the most daily views of the three, with the router guide close behind.
Across the channel, daily viewing is moderately above its usual level, while the subscriber count was unchanged over the week. Nearby in tech, HTX Studio had a much larger week; Gamers Nexus brought in more weekly views than Hayls World and ShortCircuit. Here, the distinctive thread was ownership, from the games in a library to the hardware carrying their downloads.

Steve and Wendell talking about Linux. The best way to start the day.
@The_SonicPELICANSee it on YouTubeGod I love how Wendell and you both collab together! Hope too see more in the future.
@xxargonautxx9790See it on YouTubeI don’t game much anymore, but you know what? The stuff I wanna play just works on Linux! I dabble with audio production, and my DAW (REAPER,) works great on Linux. I can even do some decent video editing. Nobara has been great, fast and stable. Everything works. Finally. FINALLY! I finally found a distro of Linux that does what I need and does it well!

I love these kinds of videos, where it's just a conversation of two very knowledgable guys about the tech industry. Wendell is so on point, it's always a pleasure to hear his analysis on the current and future landscape.
@Benzin0See it on YouTubeIf my games started disappearing from my Steam library due to licensing, I'd turn away from license-based distribution model entirely.
