Man shot and killed on midtown subway platform
An argument between two men preceded the fatal shooting at Manhattan's Seventh Avenue and 53rd Street subway station, FOX 5 New York reports. In the station's follow-up coverage, NYPD Deputy Chief Keith Shine says: "This was not a random act."
Reporter Kelly Kennedy places the shooting just before lunchtime on Saturday, at the E train platform. She reports that one man pulled a gun and shot the other in the chest. The victim died at the hospital, and the shooter fled south along Seventh Avenue.
The report includes surveillance images released by police as they searched for the suspect. An eyewitness also recounts hearing gunfire near the station.
The short report drew an estimated 46,000 views in its first day, far above the station's usual audience for Shorts. It adds an account of the confrontation to the initial coverage of the death, as we reported here.
At the time of Kennedy's report, police had not released the victim's name, pending notification of his family.
