Police tape blocked the subway entrances at Seventh Avenue and 53rd Street as FOX 5 reporter Stephanie Bertini delivered the first confirmed details from the scene: a man had been shot on the northbound E train platform and rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

The station's subsequent Sunday report described the shooting as fatal and said an argument had spilled onto the subway. The search for a suspect was continuing.

In the initial live report, Bertini relays police confirmation that the shooting happened shortly after noon on Saturday. Officers guard the taped-off entrances while pedestrians look on. Asked by newsroom host Richard Giacovas whether the station remains closed, she confirms that the entrances visible from her position are blocked.

That early broadcast drew roughly 130,000 views in its opening ten hours, far beyond the station's usual first-day audience for regular videos.

The distinction between the broadcasts matters: the original video reports the victim in critical condition, with the circumstances still unknown. FOX 5's later update reports his death and the argument preceding the gunfire.
