Two podiums in two days. Yesterday the busiest new video on FOX 2 Detroit was Dan Campbell talking after the Lions held off the Jets. Today it is President Donald Trump taking reporters' questions, posted in full.
The press conference is moving at nearly fifty times the pace a new FOX 2 upload usually manages on its first day. On its own it is running ahead of what the entire channel normally draws in a day, across everything the station has ever posted.
It is not a Michigan story. According to the description, the President took questions after announcing a new steel factory in Iowa, and the title lists midterms, tariffs and gas prices as the subjects. The tags add Canada and Iran. The station carried all of it, without cutting it down to a highlight. Perhaps talk of steel and tariffs lands a little harder in a region built around the car business?
FOX 2 is WJBK, the station behind The Nine and The Pulse. It usually covers Metro Detroit's news, weather and traffic, and this week its two busiest new videos have both been full press conferences.
