A $15K Ioniq for China, and the bike ride that started The Electric Viking

Sam also told his own origin story this week: he sold his house and cycled through 26 countries before the channel began.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Fifteen uploads went up on The Electric Viking in seven days, and one did most of the work. "Hyundai just launched a $15K Ioniq with 650 km range and a lifetime warranty" covers the Ioniq V, a mid-size electric sedan sold only in China. Its starting price is under $15,000, and first owners get a lifetime warranty on the battery and powertrain. Sam frames it as Hyundai pushing back against the domestic brands that rule that market. Three days in, it had passed 180,000 views. That is several times what any other new upload drew.

The rest of the week stayed close to the channel's usual ground. GM is preparing what it calls the world's first mass-produced prismatic LMR cells for future trucks. Mercedes-backed ProLogium in Taiwan says its solid-state cells are already in mass production. A plug-in home battery from Sigenergy stacks up to 18.8 kWh with no electrician needed. There was also a roundup of September sales, with Norway close to 99 percent electric. A day-old video on the Leapmotor B03X, billed as Australia's cheapest electric SUV, is now among the fastest movers on the channel.

The outlier was personal. In "I Sold My House & Rode a Bike Through 26 Countries," Sam tells the story from before the daily battery news: he sold his house and set off across 26 countries by bicycle. In his telling, that trip changed how he saw clean energy.

The channel added about 2,000 subscribers over the week, and daily views ran a little above normal. Among the car and motoring channels nearest its size, only Just Call Me Eddie gained more views this week. Calvin's Car Diary was the one running well past its usual pace.
