Bangladesh, Belarus and no Bahamas: Colby Martel's 'B' countries quiz nears three million

The street game sends strangers hunting for the most famous countries starting with B, and the comments became a roll call of homelands.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Colby Martel's whole act fits in two words from his channel's about line: talk to strangers. He walks up to people, often on or near college campuses (the about text lists a long run of schools, from Harvard and MIT to UCLA), and hands them a quick guessing challenge on the spot.

The one that took off was "Guess the Top "B" Countries!🌍", the first of thirteen uploads in the week. It is closing in on three million views, and a week after going up it is still the channel's busiest video. Its comment section turned into a geography class run by the viewers. Many say they were shouting Bangladesh at the screen, others are surprised that Bahrain and the Bahamas never came up, and a small argument broke out over whether Belarus counts as a small country in Europe (it does not, by European standards). A Brazilian viewer was pleased to hear Brasil said the Portuguese way.

The formula traveled. "Guess the Top "J" Names in the Bible!🕊️" followed a day later and has passed one and a half million, while "Would You Have Guessed This??🤯", only two days old, is already drawing views almost as fast as the B countries. There was a football turn too, with a stranger trying to guess the name of the creator Futcrunch.

All of it nearly doubled the channel's usual daily views, and twenty thousand new subscribers came along. Among the comedy and sketch channels close to its size, only Carisa Hendrix and Sophia & Noelle gained more views in the week, while Gabi Jones is also running well above her usual pace.
