Achara Kirk and Vivian Day had a spectacularly bad plan to follow: two men kidnap a wealthy woman's dog to finance marriages to their girlfriends. That is the starting point of De Dana Dan, Priyadarshan's 2009 comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, and CineDesi spread its reaction across four uploads this week. Mistaken identities and an expanding ensemble give that supposedly simple scheme plenty of room to unravel.
The opening installment drew the largest audience of the four, reaching roughly a quarter-million views. It also remains the channel's busiest upload after Brandon Shealy's Ramayana screening vlog, with the final installment next among the videos gathering the most views each day.
Brandon's outing supplied the week's other register entirely: red-carpet arrivals, 3D glasses and an outdoor review after watching the film at the Academy Museum. Jaby provided the ticket; Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash appeared onstage with director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra. In his review, Brandon singles out the English AI lip-matching, the bond between Rama and Lakshmana, and the action choreography. The vlog was comfortably the most-watched of the week's five uploads.
CineDesi's subscriber count stayed unchanged, while its current daily viewing is well below its usual level. Across the full week, though, it added more views than any of the listed reaction-and-commentary peers with weekly totals available. World Friends also had a substantial week and added subscribers. For CineDesi, the active draws remain a trip to the movies and a comedy that turns one dog into everyone's problem.
