Robert sits beside Kim on the couch to simulate a date, and Dilly erupts into barking. Cesar Millan is watching Kim as closely as her rescue dog: she has stiffened again.
That uncomfortable rehearsal is part of "Her Dog Made Dating Impossible... Then I Found the Real Fear | Better Human Better Dog | S05E09," which drew an estimated 44,000 views in its first day, more than six times the channel's usual start for regular videos.
Kim, a stand-up comedian who also has a rescue dog named Sweet Pea, explains that Dilly's lunging and biting have stopped her from bringing men home. Millan identifies territorial aggression and sees her tight grip on the leash as a signal reinforcing Dilly's protective behavior. His work with her centers on staying calm while someone enters the apartment.
The fear has a history. Kim tells Millan that a dog once mauled her arm. She is frightened that Dilly could inflict a similarly severe injury, with consequences that could also cost him his life.
A visit to the Dog Psychology Center offers a different picture: Dilly relaxes and plays with Millan's pack. But the episode does not treat that as the finish. A week later, Kim reports that he has bitten another visiting friend, prompting Millan to return to her apartment.
Neighborhood pack walks give way to practice at the doorway, then daily work with leashes and boundaries. At the later home test, Kim keeps Dilly settled on his bed while her comedy friend Jamie comes inside. The task is no longer a simulated date at the ranch, but receiving a guest in the apartment where she had been afraid to try.
