Balagué calls it "the most talked about Ballon d'Or ever" on Golazo's watchalong
Before Harry Kane's name was read out, CBS Sports Golazo's Morning Footy crew weighed Kane, Mbappé and Yamal, and nearly 20 million views followed.
Why this story? One of the most watched videos since yesterday, with 19,782,788 views.

Guillem Balagué did not hedge about the occasion. Joining CBS Sports Golazo from London, he opened with a verdict: "The first thing to say is that it's the most talked about Ballon d'Or ever."
The watchalong built around that night has drawn nearly 20 million views since yesterday. That is more than the 2022 game-show segment in which Thierry Henry outwits Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher, long the channel's most-watched regular video.
The broadcast opens with the Morning Footy crew, not the Henry and Carragher studio. Susannah Collins hosts Nico Cantor, Charlie Davies and Ian Joy, and the question is the one the description poses: could Lamine Yamal, billed there as a World Cup winner with Spain, take the award before turning 20, or would it go to Harry Kane? Kylian Mbappé crowds into the conversation too.
The panel does not agree. Balagué hears the expectation that Kane will win it this time. Davies counters with what he describes as the feeling inside Real Madrid's locker room: that Mbappé has already won. Joy reads the shifting betting odds and calls it "absolutely going to the wire," and a poll of Golazo viewers gives Mbappé a narrow majority.
There are side arguments, too. Joy objects to calling any side "his team" because football is a collective. Davies notes how openly players now campaign for the prize, and Cantor wants the ceremony moved to the start of the season. He also imagines a wrong envelope, Oscars-style, which Davies says would turn into a conspiracy nobody would ever stop hearing about.
Kane won. Under the video, supporters who say they follow Arsenal, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest set club loyalties aside to congratulate the England captain, and the channel has since added a reel of his Champions League best moments.
