A listening puzzle, a Stereo Love dance and 100,000 new subscribers a day for Cadel and Mia
Two shorts from October 1 took off at about four times the channel's usual first day, and its subscriber count began climbing at a pace it rarely sees.
Why this story? The channel is adding 100,041 subscribers a day, 12 times a normal day (8,099).
On an ordinary day, Cadel and Mia gain roughly 8,000 subscribers. Now they are adding about 100,000 a day, some twelve times their usual rate, on a channel that already stands at 30.5 million.
The arrivals came alongside a lively couple of days of uploads. Two shorts posted on October 1 started fast. "WHAT DO YOU HEAR? 🤔👂🤷♂️" asks viewers to listen closely and is heading for about four times a usual first day. "STEREO LOVE FUNK VIRAL DANCE TREND" is close behind. It is the couple's take on a dance set to a funk version of Stereo Love, the accordion-led club hit Edward Maya released in 2009.
The pace held on October 2. "CAMERA MAN EXPOSED! 😳 BEHIND THE SCENES 🎥" passed half a million views within its first day, and a second dance trend, set to Jealous Type, also went up. Across the channel, daily views are running more than half again above normal.
Did one short bring the new subscribers, or did a busy stretch of puzzles, dances and peeks behind the camera add up? Maybe both. The channel's about page refers to its subscribers as family members and sets a goal of 50 million.
