Alexander Skarsgård's wicker suit catches Graham Norton by surprise

A practical costume question turns into a spoiler joke when John Malkovich joins the conversation.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 130,860 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (12,519).

Norton thought it was digital. Alexander Skarsgård's woven costume in the comedy fantasy Wicker looked to the host like something added over a green suit, not something the actor actually wore.

"So you are, actually covered in wicker?" Norton asks in the BBC's unusually fast-starting Short from The Graham Norton Show. The clip has drawn about 72,000 views in nine hours, putting it on pace for roughly ten times the channel's usual first-day Shorts audience.

Little Simz takes the costume question a step further, asking whether puppetry or mechanical effects were involved. Skarsgård explains that one part near the film's ending was puppeteered, but tries to avoid revealing too much. Malkovich promptly offers a blunt anatomical guess, sending the panel into laughter.

"That's a spoiler!" Skarsgård protests. Malkovich's reply makes the interruption funnier: "Sorry, I haven't seen it."

The comments pick up on Malkovich's contribution and Skarsgård's conspicuous green, leafy knit sweater. Others recognize the actor through earlier roles, including his turn as Meekus in Zoolander. A conversation about an elaborate film costume has also become a small reunion with the characters viewers still associate with his voice.
