Wind won't let West Ham take the corner
The Barclays Women's Super League's weather joke draws more than 20,000 views in seven hours, well beyond its usual Shorts start.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 50,146 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (3,201).
Bit windy this weekend 💨 #barclayswsl
The corner flag is bending, the ball keeps rolling away, and West Ham's number 15 has yet to get to the actual kick. She bends down to place it, watches the wind undo her work, then reaches down to try again.
The Barclays Women's Super League posted the clip as "Bit windy this weekend 💨 #barclayswsl", adding an on-screen caption about how the weekend's weather felt. No speech is needed: the repeated attempts to keep the ball stationary supply the joke. One viewer offers a soccer solution to the weather problem: take a short corner.
The Short has already drawn far more views than the channel usually gets on a Short's first day. Across the channel, daily views are also running at roughly four times their usual pace.
Elsewhere on its match menu, the league has posted the full Manchester derby and Elisabeth Terland's late equalizer for United. Here, simply getting the ball to stay put is the whole assignment.
