Pokimane says that seeing reminders of the explicit deepfake scandal that targeted her years ago still makes her uncomfortable. In the clip that opens Asmongold's latest upload, she describes a "fight or flight" feeling.
Asmongold is not sympathetic to the wording. He calls it "therapy language." On the conduct behind the scandal, though, he is firm: making deepfakes of colleagues, he argues, is significantly worse than looking at explicit material of co-workers.
The video, "It's all crashing down..", has drawn about 1.5 million views since yesterday. It is a stream excerpt built from posts on X and Reddit. It does not reveal anything new about the original incident.
Midway through, Asmongold plays a clip of Destiny, who argues that Pokimane's comments have more to do with friend-group tensions than with the scandal itself. Asmongold then reads Pokimane's clarification aloud, one point at a time. She says she does not want to cancel anyone. He argues that her post was designed to make associating with the people involved socially costly. That is his reading of her motives, not her account of them.
His explanation for keeping the story going is his own. "I love making it worse," he says, because streamers "present themselves as brands and not people." He ends without taking a side: "I think everybody's awful. I do."
