"There's just too much to cover, there's going to be too many states and too many races," Steve Lookner says as he settles into Agenda-Free TV's election-night broadcast. His answer is to start small: counties, previous results and a handful of early congressional contests.

Rather than treating the first scattered vote totals as a national verdict, Lookner explains why comparing a county's returns with its performance in earlier elections is more useful. He opens Decision Desk HQ's results platform and examines Kentucky's 6th Congressional District and Indiana's 5th, among the first contests on his watch list.

The opening hour also gives viewers the mechanics of a live election broadcast: Reuters footage from polling places, a delayed video feed that needs fixing, and a countdown until the first polls close. Lookner cites an Associated Press voter poll identifying living costs, government corruption and democracy as leading concerns. He also reports that extended voting at several North Carolina precincts will delay statewide results.

The broadcast includes a sponsored segment for prediction-market platform Kalshi, separate from the incoming vote returns.

The roughly eleven-hour stream has drawn about 1.4 million views. In his following day's coverage, Lookner moves from the night's open questions to Democrats' congressional majorities, while keeping the unresolved Alaska and Mississippi Senate contests on the agenda.
