The elevator is crowded before the operating room even gets going. In ABC's Grey's Anatomy premiere teaser, four vertical panels open progressively onto a hospital day that makes the title's "just a normal day here at Grey Sloan" sound distinctly optimistic.
This is a promotional teaser for the fictional medical drama, compressing a morning-to-night shift into less than a minute. It drew roughly 104,000 views in its first day, more than fifty times ABC's usual start for a Short. A second Grey's Anatomy premiere promo also drew an unusually large first-day audience.
The split-screen setup has room for something more specific than emergency-room commotion: a disagreement over who gets to learn. An intern says a doctor considers VIP patients too valuable to let interns operate. "This is a teaching hospital," a surgeon replies.
Then the emergencies arrive. Trauma staff receive patients after a plane crash, including someone who identifies themselves as the pilot. A senior doctor notes that they're already short of surgeons.
By the late-night panel, the lobby has erupted into shouting and fighting, and someone calls for security. Grey Sloan's working day ends with the staff trying to restore order.
