22 Minutes casts Nicki Minaj as White House press secretary

Get ready for the horrifying sequel of Below! | This Hour Has 22 Minutes

The White House press office is having a busy fictional week on 22 Minutes. One sketch gives Katie Zacharia a first briefing that its title promises will also be her last. Another imagines Nicki Minaj taking the press secretary job, with the description offering a decidedly nonstandard response to reporters: would they rather hear a song?

These are comedy sketches, not real White House announcements. They arrive as the CBC satire show's channel draws about 4.5 million views in a day, roughly twenty-seven times its usual daily pace.

The Zacharia sketch, posted Monday, has already joined the channel's most-watched regular videos, a list that also includes its Trump-and-Zelenskyy card-game parody and longstanding cannabis sketches. The Minaj upload gives the same week's White House material a pop-star variation.

The show's Canadian subjects haven't disappeared amid the American spoofs. Its other uploads include a parody message from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith with a Slytherin joke in the description, plus a sketch imagining separatist leader Jeffrey Rath addressing his supporters.
