How Horseflies Bite You 😨

Zack D. Films has taken the horsefly's bite apart, blade by blade. "How Horseflies Bite You 😨" is a CGI close-up that has drawn about 5.5 million views since yesterday, and its narrator gets straight to it: "When a horsefly bites you, it presses six needle-like tools against your skin."

The animation then works through the kit. Two parts slice like scissors. Two more have tiny teeth and saw up and down to tear open the blood vessels. A hollow blade pumps in saliva so the cut does not seal, and once the blood pools on the surface, a spongy tip laps it up. The fly does not so much tap a vein as cut its own little pool.

That detail is what the comment section has seized on, and it filled fast: within eleven hours there were more comments than a typical Zack D. Films Short gathers in its whole first day. Viewers liken the mouth to a Swiss Army knife, cast the fly as a video-game boss and decide mosquitoes deserve a kinder reputation. A few admit they first read the title as "housefly."

The horsefly went up the same day as "Why Dobermans Have Cropped Ears 😞", which has drawn millions of views of its own.
