Cardi B's 'AM I THE DRAMA?' anniversary carries Warner Music Group's corporate shelf
A twenty-day-old celebration of the rapper's album is doing nearly all the work on a channel otherwise made of company highlights.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Cardi B - "AM I THE DRAMA?" 1YR ANNIVERSARY
Warner Music Group's own channel is not where the label's stars usually live. Its shelf leans corporate, with reels from the WMG/BFF Social Justice Fund, the fund the company set up with the Blavatnik Family Foundation, sitting years old and barely stirring. So it stands out that a Cardi B video is carrying the place.
"AM I THE DRAMA?" 1YR ANNIVERSARY went up twenty days ago to mark a year since the album of that name, and it has passed 100,000 views. The description points fans to an anniversary website for the record, which arrived on Atlantic, one of Warner's labels, as her long-awaited follow-up to 2018's Invasion of Privacy. On most days it brings in nearly every view the channel gets.
Nothing new went up this week, and the channel ran a little above its usual pace anyway. Subscribers held still.
Among the label and music media channels nearest its size, this one drew the fewest views. BandLab and TOPSIFY both had brisk weeks, and The Phantom of the Opera kept busy with its remixed score. For a company account that rarely posts, one anniversary clip is plenty.
