Chani holds Paul to his promise as Dune: Part Three tickets open
Warner Bros.' short ticket promo packs a sandworm, a burning war and one sharp line from Zendaya, while the comments fixate on the word "tickers."
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 204,240 views a day, 23 times a normal first day on this channel (8,968).
Dune: Part Three | Tickets On Sale Now
"You promised me that you would never take power in your name," Chani tells Paul. That line from Zendaya, aimed at Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides, is the only real dialogue in Warner Bros.' new ticket promo for Dune: Part Three. Everything around it moves fast: desert combat, a sandworm surging up, troops on a shoreline, Florence Pugh's Princess Irulan and cities on fire.
The line lands harder given where the story now stands. The synopsis puts Paul nearly two decades into his rule as a ruthless emperor of the Imperium. In Part Two, gaining power was the fight. This time Chani is asking what he has done with it. Denis Villeneuve directs again, sharing the screenplay with Brian K. Vaughan, and the studio bills the film as the conclusion of his trilogy. It reaches theaters and IMAX in North America on December 18.
The Short passed 140,000 views in its first 12 hours, far ahead of how the studio's Shorts usually start. It was also busier than most of the Dune clips the channel posted alongside it. The comments arrived even faster, more than twenty times a usual first day. Much of that talk has little to do with Arrakis.
Viewers keep writing "tickers." The word seems to have appeared in an early version of the title, which now reads correctly. One commenter is proud to have been there "when it was still tickers," and others are planning to buy theirs.
