John Cena teaches Trevor Noah about deodorant, and viewers joke about an empty chair

The wrestler turned actor spends 90 minutes on What Now? on going broke, his father, not having kids and why he would rather say "earn" than "deserve".

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 187,743 views a day, 6.3 times a normal first day on this channel (29,905).

John Cena: Run Out of HollywoodJohn Cena: Run Out of Hollywood

Before the big subjects, there is deodorant. A couple of minutes into "John Cena: Run Out of Hollywood," the WWE star walks Trevor Noah and Eugene through how he thinks it should be used, and the chapter list moves on to growing up in Massachusetts.

The new What Now? episode had about 137,000 views 13 hours after it went up. A long video here usually opens with closer to 30,000 on its whole first day.

The conversation runs for an hour and a half, and the description calls it raw and reflective. Cena talks about the fear of going broke, the illusion of job stability and what he learned from Hulk Hogan and Mr. T. He explains why he does not want children and how he made peace with his father. He also talks about knowing when to retire, a subject he has lived: in 2024 he announced that 2025 would be his last year in the ring. Elsewhere he tells a story the chapters call "The Puke Burger," shows off a car collection whose tags include a Honda Civic Type R and a Jeep Wrangler, and remembers being bullied. He also talks about Make-A-Wish, where he has granted more wishes than anyone in the charity's history.

The most liked comments, though, run on a single joke. Cena's catchphrase is "You can't see me," so viewers keep pointing out that Trevor and Eugene appear to be talking to an empty chair. Others say the wrestler has no idea how famous he is in Africa. A shorter clip from the same visit, billed as proof that Cena is funnier than people think, went up beside it.

  • Cena was never the greatest in ring competitor but he was one of the greatest crowd workers ever. The arena was loud every single time he was out there. I think his career will age very well as time passes
