Dragon Ball Super, cut from 41 episodes to 19: Mark weighs the trim
The Beerus saga's animation fixes are welcome, he says, but the tractor gag has defenders in the comments.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Half of Dragon Ball Super is Being CUT!?
One video, a big start. Mark Fitzpatrick, the self-described professional "Anime Liker" behind Totally Not Mark, posted a single upload this week, "Half of Dragon Ball Super is Being CUT!?", and it passed 200,000 views in about ten hours.
The subject is the reworked opening of Dragon Ball Super. The description calls the animation fixes very welcome, then gets to the worry: 41 episodes squeezed into 19. Can that be done without losing the good stuff, and is there room to give Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue more weight? It is a natural question for a channel whose "Anatomy of Anime" series is all about how stories are built.
The comments turned into a wish list. Plenty of viewers point to Dragon Ball Z Kai, which famously trimmed the original's run by cutting filler, as proof it can work. Others lobby for their favorite scenes: Vegeta winning over Whis with cup ramen, Goku training with Krillin before the Tournament of Power, Frieza meeting the young Goten and Trunks. A running joke has formed around Goku's tractor gag, which a surprising number of people consider essential.
Behind it, last week's "Dragon Ball Ruined EVERY Transformation" is still drawing a steady crowd, and the channel's own Goku vs Beerus fan animation, storyboarded with AnimeAjay, has passed a million views at three weeks old. Overall the channel ran right at its usual pace.
Among anime, comics and tabletop channels of similar size, UnrealEntGaming had a lively week well above its normal rate, while most of the others, Dimension 20 and Tales from the Stinky Dragon among them, ran a little below theirs.

plot twist: everything you'd cut is all they kept
