Toni and Ryan's sleep app has an expensive answer: go to bed
Ryan's search for a personalized sleep schedule becomes a subscription story, with Toni admitting she recognizes the sales pitch.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 227,281 views a day, 18 times a normal first day on this channel (12,321).
This sleep app SCAMMED ME 😱
Ryan Jon handed over his credit card for a sleep quiz promising to work out exactly what his body needed. The answer he got back was rather less personalized than the pitch: about eight hours of sleep, with a broad window for bedtime and waking up.
In Toni and Ryan's podcast excerpt, Ryan describes entering his age, height and weight, then paying $4.95 a week for the service. He also acts out the site's two-minute processing wait, making a small performance of the suspense before revealing its ordinary advice.
Toni Lodge recognizes the setup before he finishes. "See, I've done the exact same thing," she says. Her recognition gives the story a second participant, rather than leaving Ryan alone with his purchase.
The Short drew roughly 227,000 views in its first day, far beyond the channel's usual start. Comments arrived nearly six times as fast as usual, with viewers questioning the weekly price and swapping examples of apps offering obvious guidance. One describes a gardening app recommending water when plants need it; another boils their own sleep requirements down to simply needing more.
Toni starts to ask a follow-up question, but Ryan has already anticipated it: "I have unsubscribed."

@janeycarter93See it on YouTube4.95 a week is crazy too, I wouldn’t even pay 4.95 as a one-time payment for that, or even just to remove ads
@BiigZoeSee it on YouTubeI have a gardening app that has advised me to give my plants water if they need water. There's a fish care app from the same company, but I don't have any fish.
