Irish people try Danish whisky, and viewers want more of Ciara and Dermot
The TRY Channel's first taste of whisky from Denmark drew about 55,000 views in eight hours, while the channel as a whole and its food-world neighbors ran a little quieter than usual.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 110,678 views a day, 8 times a normal first day on this channel (13,915).
Irish People Try Danish Whisky For The First Time
The TRY Channel has poured a lot of whisky for its resident Irish People over the years, but the description admits Danish whisky was new to everyone. "Irish People Try Danish Whisky For The First Time" went up on Monday and had about 55,000 views eight hours later. A new upload here usually ends its whole first day near 14,000.
The timing makes it stand out. Day to day, the channel is running a little below its usual pace, and so are the cooking and food channels closest to it in size, from ChefSteps to NYT Cooking. In eight hours, the whisky video had already gathered more than half of what Friday's Torchbearer hot sauce round collected in four days.
It also keeps the channel's tour of the drinks cabinet going, a few days after a glass of Brazilian cachaça, as we reported here.
In the comments, the people who come up most are Ciara and Dermot. Viewers call them a favorite pairing for a drinking shoot, and one pitches the two as the leads in a Fawlty Towers remake. A Danish viewer admits to not knowing Denmark made whisky at all. Early in the video someone asks what the Danes are famous for, and the replies run from Lego to Viking raids on Britain. One viewer has a request: a three-person whisky panel with Darren added.

🥃 Ciara & Dermot together for a whiskey shoot is as Dermot would say: class.

The numbers
Eight hours were enough for this video to outrun a typical full first day several times over, even though the channel overall was running slightly under its usual daily pace.

The word whisky comes from the Gaelic "uisce beatha." What does that phrase mean?
Uisce beatha, in Irish (uisge beatha in Scottish Gaelic), translates as "water of life," and English shortened it over time to whisky.
