Video taking off 8.1x its usual first day

Shane Gillis gives Brandon Tatum a presidential postgame interview

A stand-up bit recasts Trump's raid announcement as sports commentary, leaving Tatum laughing and crediting Nick for the selection.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 358,702 views a day, 8.1 times a normal first day on this channel (44,395).

Shane Gillis is Hilarious 😂Shane Gillis is Hilarious 😂

Brandon Tatum is wiping a tear from his eye by the end of this reaction. Shane Gillis has taken a presidential press conference and given it the rhythm of an NBA player explaining what happened on the court.

The Officer Tatum's Short drew nearly 350,000 views in 22 hours, well beyond the channel's usual first-day Shorts audience. This is a stand-up performance with Tatum reacting above it, not a new Trump address.

Gillis's subject is Donald Trump's speech following the raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Rather than dissecting the military operation, the comedian concentrates on the delivery: the improvisation, the boasts and the distance between a formal presidential announcement and Trump's conversational style.

His impression then moves into an imagined Situation Room scene, with military officials watching the operation alongside a president supplying his own commentary. The bit builds toward an unlikely comparison involving the raid's dogs and PAW Patrol.

Gillis has already been a recurring subject on Tatum's channel, as we reported here. This upload puts the performance itself at the center. Tatum's closing contribution is brief: "That was funny, man." He also credits someone named Nick for picking the clip.
