Ottawa gets a weekend defense from Sophie Nadeau
Her capital-city guide ventures beyond Parliament Hill to nature spaces, maple syrup country and the heritage town of Perth.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I Spent a Weekend in Canada's Most Boring City
What does Sophie Nadeau find in a city saddled with a boring reputation? Enough to take her weekend guide beyond the capital itself: gardens and wildlife spaces in Ottawa, then maple syrup and a visit to Perth in the Lanark Highlands.
"I Spent a Weekend in Canada's Most Boring City" was her only new upload, reaching about 21,000 views. The title supplies the provocation, but the itinerary is a travel guide, beginning around Parliament Hill and downtown museums before heading toward greener surroundings. Sophie and her husband, Antoine, film and edit the channel's videos together.
Ottawans have been filling the comments with their own additions. One points to the peaceful Mer Bleue boardwalk; others recommend crossing the river for Gatineau Park, Wakefield and the Canadian Museum of History. Another viewer remembers using Sophie's Bern guide while planning a Swiss trip and finding this Ottawa upload at just the right moment for another journey. The conversation is less about accepting the "boring" label than expanding the itinerary.
Ottawa currently draws the most daily views of her videos, with two European journeys also keeping the shelf active. "The World's Most Beautiful Road Trip (Ireland)" follows the Wild Atlantic Way through Donegal, Galway and the Aran Islands, including a meeting with jewelry maker Finula. The older "The French City Everyone's Moving To (But Nobody Visits)" connects Montpellier with Roman architecture at Pont du Gard and Nîmes, then flamingos in the Camargue.
The channel added a thousand subscribers over seven days, while daily viewing is close to its usual level. Among nearby travel channels, Nikki Delventhal had a much larger week; Sophie's weekly view gain was the next largest. Her Ottawa guide gives that steady audience a change of continent without abandoning the historical sights and less obvious stops that shape her European trips.

When I was planning a trip to Switzerland you put out the Bern video (which really helped btw!) And now that I've been planning an Ottawa trip you put this out. Amazingly good timing again 🙌🏻
@unchained33See it on YouTubeNative Ottawan here. Lovely video of my city and you touch on some out of the way locations, not just the usual things. There are many other places both in central Ottawa and the surrounding areas that are worth a visit. The Mer Bleue board walk is a favourite for its peacefulness and unusual plants including blueberries in abundance.
@glennclark343See it on YouTubeThanks for the great video! Next time you visit, you should cross the river and visit Gatineau Park and Wakefield village. The museum of Canadian History is also a must. When we have visitors from out of town, these are prime sites we take them to.

I’m not sure what kind of things people who call Ottawa “boring” are looking for, but there’s always stuff to do in Ottawa, and in the area around there. My sis went to uni there and lived there for a while, and I still have friends in that area, and love going to the city.
