"DIY Jumping Bunny from a Paper Cup!" is exactly what it sounds like: a cup, some markers, a pair of ears and a hidden rubber-band mechanism that sends the bunny hopping. It is the newest craft on Slick Slime Sam's channel, where a talking pink slime and his "pet human" Sue make things together and bicker their way to an agreement. Barely a day old, it is already the busiest video there, with a funny-face copying game from the same day close behind.
The rest of the week was crowded. Twelve uploads in seven days, and the most watched of them is a short about eating gummy worms through a paper beak, the way a bird would. It has passed 30,000 views and is still picking up new viewers a week on.
Around it sit a homemade motor-skills toy for little hands, a dad running a paper nail salon that doubles as a counting game, a castle built up from simple pieces, and a science trick that moves orange juice between glasses without touching them. The longest of the lot is a squishy episode: Sammy dreams of a world of strawberry hills, jelly slides and bread houses, and Sue turns the dream into a giant strawberry, a butter block, a rainbow sandwich and an avocado, all from sponges, balloons, clay and tape.
Among the children's channels of a similar size, Slime Sam is third by subscribers at 12.3 million. PresentHunt and A for Adley are the ones running above their usual pace right now, while Vlad and ArtTime Ideas are a little quieter than normal.
