Cal wants a breakup. "No way. Break up right now," Steve Carell's character tells Jacob, the smooth-talking man he has just discovered is dating his daughter.

That demand opens Prime Video AU & NZ's clip from Crazy, Stupid, Love., the 2011 romantic comedy that pairs Carell with Ryan Gosling. The Short has drawn roughly 240,000 views in 19 hours, already far beyond the channel's usual first-day audience for the format. Its comment section is also much busier than usual.

The joke has some history behind it: Jacob helped Cal learn how to approach women, but Cal has decidedly different feelings about those skills being deployed within his own family. Other people's romantic misunderstandings pile into the backyard, until David Lindhagen arrives carrying Emily's sweater and supplies another reason for everyone to lose their composure.

Viewers are singling out the smaller bits within the commotion: Gosling's giggle, Jacob removing his ring before stepping in on Cal's behalf, and the bewilderment of people who have encountered this scene without the rest of the movie. Several ask for the film's name.

For all Cal's fury at Jacob, the comments keep returning to Jacob's immediate readiness to defend him. Their wingman arrangement proves surprisingly durable under pressure.
