Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

the forgotten play 🫨

NFL Films gives the play before the famous play its own moment. Scott Fujita rushes Michael Vick, forces a fumble and watches a possible Saints touchdown disappear over the sideline. Fourth down follows, leaving the stage clear for Steve Gleason's blocked punt during New Orleans' 2006 return to the Superdome.

The clip was the most-watched of the channel's eight uploads this week, reaching roughly 103,000 views. Sean Payton remembers the bench's frustration at not recovering the ball. Fujita remembers celebrating quite happily before the punt unit arrived. "So they say that I almost prevented the biggest play in Saints history from happening," he says.

Viewers are picking over that fork in the story: whether Fujita should have fallen on the loose ball, what happened on the next snap, and how they remember the linebacker. One even recalls drafting him in NFL 2K5, a nicely specific kind of football immortality.

Elsewhere, "Dez Bryant: A Defense's WORST NIGHTMARE | SFX" brought a receiver showcase to the schedule, alongside stadium fog and a disputed catch. The newest nail-themed Short currently has the strongest daily momentum, with Fujita's recollection and "Warren Moon: The QB Who BROKE Every BARRIER | A Football Life" also drawing attention.

The channel added roughly 10,000 subscribers over seven days, although daily views are running below their usual level. ESPN College Football is having a much larger viewing week among similarly sized sports channels. For NFL Films, the distinctive offering is that extra beat of history: the frustrated sideline before the moment everyone remembers.
