Ronnie Lott comes looking, Marcus Allen sees him coming

A short of the two USC greats sits beside a full A Football Life on how Allen became the Los Angeles Raiders' star.

Marcus Allen had a big week. NFL Films spent much of it on the Hall of Fame running back, with an A Football Life episode on how he became the face of the Los Angeles Raiders and a short called "that's what brothers are for" that has drawn more views than anything else the channel posted.

The short is about Allen and Ronnie Lott, two Trojans from the same USC era who went on to be all-time greats at opposite ends of a tackle. Commenters treat it as a punchline about awareness: Lott, the ferocious 49ers safety, seemingly thought nobody was watching for him, and Allen apparently never stopped. A few viewers bring up the famous story of Lott giving up part of a finger rather than leave a game, and others remember that Bo Jackson's arrival pushed Allen to fullback.

Marshawn Lynch got his turn too. There was a mic'd-up film billed as must-see TV, a short on the Beastquake run, and another on Skittles, which is drawing views quickly in its first day. The channel also tried a college question, asking whether Cal could become the next Indiana.

The real momentum belongs to an older short, "i'm batman", eight days old and still drawing views faster than anything else on the channel. Together with eight new uploads, it has the channel running close to twice its usual daily pace. Among the sports league and media channels around its size, The Rich Eisen Show and SPORTSNET had the loudest weeks, while The Herd and NFL Throwback were also busy.
