Obama questions the Treasury's role in a Cheesecake Factory dispute
MS NOW's Atlanta rally clip drew about 700,000 views in its first day as Obama argued that restaurant outrage distracts from rising costs.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 694,774 views a day, 33 times a normal first day on this channel (21,239).
Obama ROASTS Trump on Cheesecake Factory AGAIN
Tim Geithner gets an unlikely imaginary assignment in Barack Obama's Atlanta campaign speech: go to Arby's during the financial crisis.
"I never called my Treasury secretary, Tim Geithner, said, 'Man, you got to go to Arby's,'" Obama tells the crowd. The comparison is his response to what he describes as the Trump administration sending the Treasury secretary to appear outside a Cheesecake Factory after Obama's joke about White House decor.
The MS NOW Short, titled "Obama ROASTS Trump on Cheesecake Factory AGAIN," drew more than thirty times the channel's usual first-day views for that format.
Obama's argument turns on which part of his original insult drew a response. He says Trump was less bothered by the comparison to Saddam Hussein than by the restaurant reference. He then accuses the administration of answering that joke rather than addressing his criticisms about prices and tariffs.
"They don't have solutions to actual problems," Obama says, presenting the restaurant dispute as an example of manufactured outrage distracting from household costs.
MS NOW also devoted a separate, unusually fast-starting discussion to the exchange, with Nicolle Wallace joined by Alex Wagner, Sam Stein and John Heilemann.
