'Assemble respectfully': Doomsday's phone reminder draws millions on day one
Marvel's about page even promises that the channel itself "will return in Avengers: Doomsday," which arrives in theaters December 18.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 5,317,632 views a day, 74 times a normal first day on this channel (71,702).
Avengers: Doomsday | Silence Your Phones | In Theaters December 18
Posted barely a day ago, a Marvel video that is essentially a request for good cinema manners has already passed two million views. "Avengers: Doomsday | Silence Your Phones | In Theaters December 18" comes with a description of just two words that matter: "Assemble respectfully."
New uploads on Marvel Entertainment usually start far more quietly. This one opened at roughly seventy-four times the channel's usual first day. For the previous two days, VisionQuest and its Disney+ premiere set the tone on the channel. Now the biggest film on Marvel's calendar has taken over the conversation, and it did so with a pre-show courtesy reminder rather than a trailer.
Doomsday reunites Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed Infinity War and Endgame, with the Avengers. It also brings Robert Downey Jr. back to the franchise, this time as Doctor Doom. The title does not say who appears in this short spot.
The channel had already joined in. Its about text announces that "this YouTube account will return in Avengers: Doomsday," a playful take on the "will return" cards that close Marvel's films.
