Haaland, Doku and Cherki star in Man City's own Anfield edit
The club's two-minute cut packs in a red card, three second-half goals and an early Donnarumma save that some viewers think deserves more credit.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 2,047,524 views a day, 76 times a normal first day on this channel (26,783).
HIGHLIGHTS | City return with Anfield win | Liverpool 0-3 Man City | Haaland, Doku & Cherki goals
Six league games, six wins. Manchester City came back from the international break with a 3-0 victory at Liverpool, and the club's own highlights tell it in about two minutes.
Those two minutes reached roughly 850,000 views in their first seven hours, a pace the channel's short uploads rarely approach over a full day. The comment section moved even faster than usual, with about ten times the comments of a typical opening day.
The edit gives the goalless first half its due before the goals. Alisson saves from Fernandez, Kerkez slides in to clear a Semenyo cross, and Haaland fires wide of the post. Donnarumma's stop from Koumas at the other end draws a line from the commentator: "That's the closest we've come to a goal."
The game turns after Liverpool's Ryan Gravenberch is sent off. Doku drives into the box and sets up Haaland for the opener. Three minutes later, Doku cuts in from the left and curls in the second himself. Cherki then weaves through the Liverpool defense to finish the third, which the commentator calls "Absolutely glorious." According to the club's description, it is City's second successive win at Anfield and restores their three-point lead over Arsenal.
In the comments, viewers keep comparing the Doku and Cherki finishes, and some name both as goal-of-the-season candidates. Enzo Maresca's touchline reaction to Doku's strike gets its own mentions. Another strand makes a case for Donnarumma, whose saves kept City level before the scoring began.
The club's Matchday Live show was also unusually busy. Cel Spellman and Natalie Pike hosted it with former City players Gareth Barry, Paul Dickov and Nicky Weaver, and Izzy Christiansen, who played for City's women's team.
