Kyle Nutt puts a phone number on an autumn leaf
A vintage Mercedes and Central Park dates frame the creator's new romantic short, as viewers ask for a full movie.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
You can have my number, but only if you can catch it...
Paper would be too straightforward. In Kyle Nutt's latest romantic sketch, a woman writes her phone number on a yellow maple leaf resting on a vintage Mercedes convertible, then lets the wind carry it away.
"Well, I don't usually give my number out to strangers..." she tells the driver. The flirtation becomes a pursuit, followed by an autumn date montage in Central Park: coffee beside the lake, a shared book on a rock, pastries on a bench. This is a staged short film, with the city supplying much of the scenery.
"You can have my number, but only if you can catch it..." was Kyle's only upload this week and has reached roughly 50,000 views. Viewers are asking for a feature-length rom-com or a whole season, while others pick out the color grading and compare the atmosphere to You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. The comments are unusually specific about wanting this little fictional world to last longer.
The new film is also the channel's most active video right now, drawing views faster than "Running to the love of your life…", which continues to find an audience two months after publication. The video-store short remains active too, though on a smaller scale.
Subscribers held steady over the week, while today's channel viewing is more than twice its usual daily level. Among nearby art and photography channels, lilycollects added subscribers and Kevin Parry also has elevated daily viewing. Kyle's own week belongs to a much smaller prop: a leaf that turns exchanging numbers into a scene worth filming.
