FBI raids Beverly Hills mansion in Eric Swalwell investigation
KTLA 5's reporter stands outside a gated, hedge-lined Beverly Hills estate after FBI agents have left, describing particular attention paid to a Corvette at the property. Aerial footage shows federal agents searching the grounds near Benedict Canyon Drive and Roxbury Drive.
The station reports, citing sources, that Tuesday morning's search was connected to an investigation involving former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell. The mansion belongs to Stephen Cloobeck, the Diamond Resorts founder and former California gubernatorial candidate who had been a major Swalwell donor.
According to the report, Cloobeck cut ties with Swalwell in April after sexual misconduct allegations became public. KTLA also reports that Swalwell resigned following those allegations and describes a separate investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's office. The report does not establish what agents recovered from the Beverly Hills property.
The Short drew roughly 132,000 views in eight hours, an unusually fast start for KTLA's short-form reports. A separate upload about the same mansion search also attracted substantially more views than the station's usual Shorts.
