A room costing $100 a night is Jorden Tually's answer to the idea that the Maldives requires a luxury-resort budget. In his new Short, he trades the private-island proposition for a stay on Omadhoo, with beachside meals and boat trips to see dolphins, manta rays and sharks.

"Don't make this Mistake when Visiting the Maldives" drew more than 210,000 views in its first sixteen hours, already far beyond his usual full-day Shorts audience. Across his channel, daily views are also running at nearly six times their usual pace.

The mistake in the title is assuming that an expensive resort is the only way to experience the islands. Tually says his accommodation at Kirulhiya Maldives cost a fraction of that alternative, and puts his five-day trip at under $1,000. His closing point is about where that spending goes, too: he encourages travelers to support the local economy.
