Jordan Matter's subscriber surge comes after a scripted Salish experiment

The channel added nearly 100,000 subscribers in a day, with a high-school drama sitting alongside its shopping and pool challenges.

Why this story? The channel is adding 99,980 subscribers a day, 12 times a normal day (8,399).

"My daughter has taken over my channel!" reads Jordan Matter's channel description. The recent uploads make that a fair introduction: Salish is at the center of a shopping chase, a pool endurance challenge and an experiment that trades competition rules for a script.

The channel has added nearly 100,000 subscribers in a day, more than ten times its usual daily gain. That jump arrives after several very different Salish-led uploads, rather than a single departure from the channel's familiar challenges.

The most substantial change of format is "What If They Never Met?", posted earlier in October. Its premise imagines Salish and Nidal meeting for the first time in high school. They play themselves, but this is a scripted show, not an account of how they actually met.

Jordan credits Dhar Mann as a stylistic inspiration and the film Sliding Doors as an inspiration for the concept. Rohan Thompson is credited as head writer and director, with Jordan among the writers and serving as second director. The description says it was written and filmed in five days.

That experiment has more views than either of the newer shopping and pool challenges. For a channel built around elaborate games, the month's notable detour is a story whose central question isn't who wins, but what changes when two people meet later.
