Plenty of the guests on JOLLY's latest beach episode have spent years landing, gutting or selling seafood. Several of them, it turns out, have never eaten a mussel.
Josh and Ollie set up on the Sussex coast with bags of American Cajun seafood boil (mussels, crawfish, king crab, lobster, sausage, corn and baby potatoes), which the description credits to Angry Crab Shack, and hand them to fishermen and fishmongers whose time on the job ranges from one year to 23. "I've never had a mussel before and that is top tier," says Ethan. Ollie can't resist the irony: "It's like giving Picasso a pencil. And he's like, 'I've never drawn before.'"
Three of the guests are called John, and one of them is very comfortable with shellfish. He cracks king crab with his teeth and hands, then later breaks whole lobster shells open with no tools at all. The John viewers keep naming is the ex-fisherman and filmmaker behind The Fish Locker channel, and Ollie's description of him as a silverback has become the comment section's favorite line.
The smaller surprises come from the side dishes. Crawfish need a quick lesson in twisting off the head and sucking the juices. The sausage wins over people who expected it to clash with the fish. "I don't really like corn, but that's just changed it for me," Steve says.
Midway through there is a sponsored sea shanty advertising Bombas socks and slippers. Then the heat arrives: Josh introduces a Louisiana "medium" as "like a UK extra, extra hot," and the finale brings out a Carolina Reaper sauce.
The episode has drawn around 795,000 views since yesterday, a typical pace for a channel built on Brits trying American food for the first time. Its best-known Short shows British high schoolers meeting Texas brisket, which may explain why so many viewers are now asking for English beef farmers to try barbecue next.

So, we can expect English beef ranchers to try Texas barbecue next?
@IIIIIexpletivedeletedIIIIISee it on YouTubeBring back the fishermen for another video! They’re adorable!
@maribethcrews2519See it on YouTubeAs an ex crab and lobster fisherman from Guernsey, the fact that these young lads have never eaten some of the more expensive fish doesn't surprise me, it all goes to market. If you sail down to the South Pacific islands, the coconut crabs have one huge claw to opens the husks. Very powerful and very tasty.
@fishtiguaSee it on YouTubeThe one fisherman relaying his techniques to get into the crab and lobster was funny.
Of course the musical choice for everyone trying the hot sauce was perfect XD@RedWing777See it on YouTubeJolly is the only channel where I don’t skip through the ads because Ollie singing and dancing is always a trip!

@stevenvuongSee it on YouTubeThis is possibly the most wholesome episode ever. They weren’t there to be judgy or try and be proper. They were there to eat new stuff and have a great time. Up to their elbows in food and fun, that’s how it’s done! ❤
